Blouse shirt Bloom - Schnittduett
I started the July with some #sewindistance. This hashtag was started on Instagram with the idea to sew the same pattern or with the same fabric as another person who is not in the same place. So together with the lovely Rose, which I met on Instagram, I spend a whole day skyping while sewing. We decided to sew with the same fabric - the beautiful viscose granito chestnut from Atelier Brunette.
I decided to try the Blouse shirt Bloom out of the latest pattern collection from Schnittduett. It's a simple boxy shirt with short tapered sleeves, a boat neckline and a seam detail in the back.
I sewed the cropped version in a size 44 and got the loose and flowy fit I was hoping for. It was a quite straight forward sew even tho I made some minor mistakes (maybe because I was distracted talking on Skype).
The first mistake I made was pressing the shaping band on the front piece and not on the back. But that's a mistake you can't see as the fabric is not transparent.
The second mistake happened while sewing the cuffs. They are supposed to be fold over the sleeves after attaching them but I didn't follow the instructions correctly. Therefore, if I would fold over the cuffs you would see the seams - which I don't want so I just left it the way it is now and I think it gives the blouse a cute look.
Sports outfit Bali - Schnittliebe
The next piece I've sewn in July is this sport set Bali. Both the sports BH pattern and the leggings pattern are made by Annika from Schnittliebe.
The fabric I used is a lycra in DoubleGradient LeatherLook desert design I ordered from Astrokatze. I fell in love with the colour gradient of the fabric and directly had the leggings pattern in mind.
Sewing the leggings was fast as the fabric is super easy to sew with and the pattern is kind of straight forward. I sewed a size 44 and lenghtened the pattern about 9cm. I also added a drawstring in the waistband as I had the feeling the elastic alone was not enough to provide enough stability.
After I finished the leggings I had more than enough fabric left to sew a matching sports bra. The pattern from Annika is the one I already used before so I knew the fit was great. I still lined the bra with some power mesh for extra support and it turned out perfectly as I imagined it.
In general the sport set is simple but beautiful and the fabric is a dream for sportswear.
Culottes Bloom - Schnittduett
I also made another Culotte Bloom in July. Those flowy pants are just the best way to get comfortabelly dressed and still look chic.
This time I sewed the pattern by Schnittduett out of a super soft dark green Tencel with pinstripes. I found this fabric on a local fabric market but it's from meetMILK fabric.
The quality of the fabric is amazing and it gives the Culottes just the right flowy look. Sewing the pattern a second time has prevented me from making the same mistakes as the first time. Therefore it was a fast project and is a perfect addition to my wardrobe.
Matching Summer Set
The dark green Tencel hasn't been the only fabric gem I found at the fabric market. I also just had to buy a striped linen in a rusty colour to top up my stash.
Unlike the green Tencel, I did not have an exact idea what I wanted to sew from the linen when I bought it but little by little the idea of a matching set became clear.
The pants are my second pair of Flint Shorts by Megan Nielsen Patterns. I graded them again from a size 16 in the waist to a size 20 in the hips and they fit great. It's view D with the little bow on the side for closure but that kind of happened by mistake. I cut the wrong waistband and then just went for it.
The shirt in this matching set is also a Blouse Shirt Bloom by Schnittduett. I fell in love with my first blouse immediately and wanted to sew a second one right away.
But for this second version in the linen fabric I wanted to have a button down front as I thought it would be more interesting. Therefore, I hacked the pattern to meet my expectations. I lowered the front neckline a tiny bit and cut the back piece on fold and it turned out perfect.
This blouse is also a bit longer than the first version of my Blouse Shirt Bloom and I followed the instructions for sewing the cuffs this time. Hence, the look is quite different but I really love it!

Shirt Amsterdam - Schnittliebe
My sister asked me this month to sew her two shirts and when she bought the fabric I asked her to buy enough of a curry one so I can also sew myself something out of it as payment.
And of course I had to sew another Shirt Amsterdam for myself.
The pattern really is a TNT (true and tested) one for me. I love the body fit, the variations of the neckline, the sleeve length and that it's put together real quick. I don't have to say much more about it - just the perfect wardrobe staple!
Selfdrafted Top
After sewing the curry Shirt Amsterdam I still had enough fabric left to squeeze a top out of it. Like for the black top I sewed in June I used a pattern I copied from a purchased top from my wardrobe.
I made a minor adjustment by adding some width in the center front. To do so I just didn't positioned the front piece of the pattern directly at the fold of the fabric but like 1,5cm away.
To get both the front and the back out of this fabric, I had to cut the back as two pieces. But I think the center back seam is kind of a nice detail to this simple top.
Also, I made myself some bias binding to finish the neckline and armholes with a bias binding maker I got as a birthday present from my parents.
Easy and beautiful finish for an easy and beautiful make.
Skirt Malou - Jana.diy
For the sake of completness I'm also mentioning my skirt Malou in this post again as I also sewed it in July.
It's a simple skirt pattern and the first one from Jana.diy. I sewed it out of a flowery viscose fabric I was gifted from my boss with inseam pockets as only detail. I wrote down more information in the blog post about the skirt.
Simple Shopper Bags
I'm finishing this blog post with non-clothing items again. These embroidered fabric panels are also some pieces I found at the fabric market and as I was lacking in some simple shopper bags I took them with me.
The backside and the straps are out of matching orange canvas and I think those two have been the fastest makes I made in July. Just front, back and straps.
Both also have one long strap to go over the shoulder which turned out a bit too long - still have to change that.
But in total I love the look of these bags and they are really practical!
